2021 BACK TO 50’s MODIFIED SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Josephine County Fairgrounds and Evergreen Federal Bank are proud to present the plan for the 2021 Back to 50s Week! Back to 50’s Week will kick off July 20th with Concerts in the Park, but due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions, this year will still have to be modified.
At this time, plans are moving forward for the Fabulous 50’s Car Show at Riverside Park hosted by the Rogue Valley Cruisers, The Sock Hop hosted by the Fruitdale Grange as well as the Ice Cream Social hosted by Josephine County Historical Society are being planned.
Looking different this year will be in leu of concerts downtown, the Josephine County Fairgrounds will host drive in movie’s both Friday and Saturday night at the Fairgrounds. Saturday’s night Cruise will not be a closed street event this year, but an open ‘Community Classic Cruise’.
Also, in the works is an online and app resource for local business to advertise their 50’s promotions, events and sales to highlight their 50’s spirit. Details for the different activities will be announced as we get closer, but it is believed with the information that we know now, these are the activities that the community can expect.
2020 the event was cancelled completely due to COVID and then the City of Grants Pass announced that they were releasing this annual event late Fall. The Josephine County Fair Board voted to take a lead role in this Grants Pass tradition and formed a committee with committed community volunteers that wanted to see this event continue and thrive. While this is not the schedule they would have hoped to announce for 2021, it was important to the Fair Board and Back to 50’s Committee that the community tradition find a way to proceed.
If things dramatically change in our County with COVID cases and regulations, we are ready to add more activities back into the schedule. Back to 50’s week is about Community Spirit and we want to continue to celebrate our community spirit! There are some very exciting plans for the future of Back to the 50s events, but for now we will celebrate in a small way and wait until 2022 when we are all able to come back together.
