PEGGY ANDERSON, FIRST COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION & SOUTHERN OREGON SANITATION WIN STATE WIDE AWARD FROM OREGON FAIR ASSOCIATION.
On Saturday January 12, the Oregon Fair Association announced the winners from a variety of categories at their annual convention in Salem, Oregon. The nominations are received state wide from each county’s Fair Director and Josephine County received 3 awards.
First Community Credit Union won the category for “Youth Project Award”. First Community Credit Union provided funding to build individual buildings to create ‘Frontier Village’ at the Josephine County Fair.These buildings were used for 4H & FFA clubs to all the youth participants to store their supplies that they needed over the course of the Fair as tack rooms. Each club had the opportunity to decorate their building to tie into the village theme.This project not only helped a variety of youth clubs, but made it an interactive project that the kids took pride in developing.
Southern Oregon Sanitation – Trent Carpenter won the category for “Local Fair Supporter Award”. SOS and Trent Carpenter have been instrumental in supporting the Josephine County Fairgrounds since 1948. At any given minute when we are in need, they have been there.Trent also fulfills the role of Open Class Beef Co Superintendent during the Fair and can be found at any moment on the grounds helping where ever the need arises.
Peggy Anderson won the “Distinguished Service Award” for her service at both the Umatilla County and Josephine County Fairgrounds.Peggy retired from Josephine County Fairgrounds in 2018 where she spent the last 3 years of her Fair career.This award is not given every year, and is only issued when a most deserving candidate has been nominated.
